Keeper and Activator of Sacred Ama Songlines® – Reclaiming ancestral wisdom for women’s health

My Role as the Keeper and Activator of Sacred Ama Songlines®

As the custodian and conduit of Sacred Ama Songlines®, I have held this profound medicine close, letting her reveal what she wanted when she wanted. For years, I have written reflections, planned workshops, and even outlined a book to share this knowledge. But honestly, I was hesitant to bring it fully into the world, mindful of how Indigenous knowledge has been stolen and misappropriated. I knew this medicine was sacred, and she was so special that she sat with me for years as I worked to understand her and why I was being shown this message.

Meb Ama, in one of our encounters, showed me that my role is twofold: to help women remember and reconnect to these pathways within and to sing up the Songlines—to activate them. In Indigenous traditions, “singing up” a Songline is a way of awakening it, of calling forth its memory, power, and medicine. In doing so, each woman becomes a caretaker of her Sacred Ama Songlines, nurturing these pathways for herself and for future generations.

Reawakening the Sacred Ama Songlines goes beyond individual healing; it is a return to wholeness and a reclamation of wisdom and autonomy that has been fractured through patriarchy, trauma, colonisation, and the pathologising of women’s bodies. For too long, these bodies have been seen in isolation—separate from our great mother Earth, separate from Spirit. Yet the truth is that each woman’s journey is woven into the cycles of the Land, the rhythms of the cosmos, and the stories of the Ancestors.

As I help women reconnect to their Songlines, I also bear the responsibility to protect and honour Sacred Ama Songlines as they have been entrusted to me. Through ceremonies, teachings, and gatherings, I support women in reclaiming their Self and Spirit, caring for these sacred pathways for generations to come.

In reclaiming these Songlines, we acknowledge that the Land, body, and Spirit are inseparable. Each cycle, each breath, echoes the lives of those who came before. Sacred Ama Songlines remind us that we are the continuation of these ancestral pathways, that we are the custodians of this knowledge, and that every woman has the right to reclaim her place in this unbroken, sacred lineage.
