About

My life has always been about service, compassion and healing.

Dr Danielle Arabena, a descendant of the Meriam Clan Groups in the Torres Strait, is an experienced medical doctor and healer, drawing on her cultural lineage to offer a unique approach to care. Her focus areas are centred on “women’s business”, including menstruation, antenatal, birth and postpartum care, pelvic pain, menopause, and breastfeeding medicine. Danielle integrates her medical expertise with her Torres Strait Islander heritage, honouring the significant rites of passage and altars women encounter during life’s key transitions.

These moments are central to 13 Moons Medical, reflecting the natural cycles that shape women’s lives.

With over 30 years of experience in tertiary, adult, and medical education, Danielle is a Senior Medical Educator and the Co-National Clinical Lead for the RACGP in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health. She has been instrumental in embedding cultural safety and Indigenous practices into general practice and medical education, advocating for respectful and comprehensive care.

As a general practitioner, birth worker, healer, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Danielle is dedicated to providing heart-centred, patient-focused care that supports women throughout their health journeys.
At 13 Moons Medical, she combines evidence-based medicine with Indigenous knowledge to advance the decolonisation of women’s health. Her approach champions body autonomy and empowers women as they move through different stages of life.

Danielle is also the conduit for the Sacred Ama Songlines, a gift shown to her by her Ancestors. These Songlines traverse the Earth and are mirrored in women’s bodies, embodying the wisdom and medicine of Country. They honour the natural cycles of life, guiding women to reclaim their inner knowing and deepen their connection with both their bodies and the environment.
